All work I do will be owned by you and you will always be able to get copies of the programming done for your site.
Bonus! EastmanCreations will use your logo (or use one or two letters if you prefer) to make a "favicon." This is the little icon next to the website address at the top of your browser address bar. It is also the icon that shows when you drag the website address to your desktop or favorites folder.
What Components Make up a Website? You need three things to have a presence on the Internet. 1 First you need a domain name, such as www.EastmanCreations.com. Domain names are charged on an annual basis and typically run from about ten dollars to twenty dollars or more, depending on the type (.com vs .tv, etc). You can have multiple domain names pointing to the same site (like when you want to cover misspellings) or you can have a domain name “forward” to pretty much any other site, often to specific pages within that site. If available, you will want to get .com domain names consisting of your business name, your personal name, and possible misspellings. You may also want to get some of the other more common extensions for those, such as .org and .net. If available, you always want to get the .com extension. Once you have a domain name, you can have eMail addresses with that domain name. In fact, you actually don't need to have a website to have custom eMail addresses. If all you want is a custom email address, just get a domain name and skip the website development. That said, I'd recommend having a one-page site or doing site forwarding because people will look at the domain name in the eMail and try to go to that site. 2 Secondly, you need the site developed. This is what a person sees when at your site and actually is a set of programs and files that display on your web browser. This can run from a few hundred dollars to several hundred thousand dollars for sophisticated eCommerce sites. Some people have a website developed and then hardly touch it for several years, others want to update it on a regular basis, adding content, upcoming events, specials, etc. 3 Thirdly, you need the site to be hosted. This is the computer (actually a "file server") where the programs and files that make up your website actually reside. Prices range from free for hosts that place ads on your website to a few hundred a month for sophisticated business sites, or far more if you have your own data center. Smaller personal and business sites typically run from about ten to twenty dollars per month and include eMail services. We use 1and1.com for both domain name registration and site hosting, having found them very reasonable in price and having a solid basis of services. You can set up an account with them yourself or have us do it for you.
